The Artist
WHO I am, WHAT I do, and WHY I do it…
Growing up in Ontario, I fondly remember exploring and connecting to nature in the nearby woods, and being influenced by the amazing colour and artistry of the Disney Classics.
In the 70’s, I moved to British Columbia on the West Coast of Canada, and living by the ocean has expanded my visual world. My journey in art studies began in the 80’s earning a diploma in Commercial Art and further exploring my education with Digital Print & Web Publishing.
I currently reside in Qualicum Beach on beautiful Vancouver Island, Canada.
As an artist I am largely self-taught. I study the paths of artists I admire, and continue to expand my vision and upgrade my skills. If you would like to know more about me, click here.
Passion
Currently, my latest passion is painting art pieces outdoors (known as ‘plein air’), with an expressive style influenced by Monet (the father of plein air). I am usually camera-ready to photograph something that has caught my eye which inspires me to paint my ‘love-of colour’, and ‘love-of movement’ with brush strokes to my canvas. I use watercolour, acrylic, and oil mediums for my art pieces.
Purpose
I am a curious and a passionate person.…and not being content with one look or subject my artwork is versatile and my journey combines the discipline and format used in commercial art and with the passion for the freedom of fine art. It is my heartfelt and humble purpose to capture the essence of a subject and create an impression that is both meaningful and inspirational.
Desire
More-and-more I experience spiritual feelings when I am in tune with nature and consider nature as my true studio. I need to paint free and be liberal with the paint with a desire to apply my expression, creating elements of mystery and daydreaming, using paint brush and heart. It’s a matter of the heart.
